One of the things you come to accept about living on Guam is the wild chickens. They crow and squawk at 5 am everyday and go wherever and eat whatever they please --without the slightest regard for anyone.

One morning on the way to taking Natalie to her bus stop (3 miles from our house), these brazen chickens and a rooster decide to cross the street. They could care less about the cars slamming on the brakes.

We all know the old joke "Why did the chicken cross the road...?"

"....to get to the other side."

Well, we finally figured out the riddle of
why they wanted to get to the other side....

On Guam, the chickens cross the road 'cause they want to eat at Shirley's coffee shop--just like everybody else does on Guam for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only the Guam chickens don't eat the imported chicken and rice or scrambled eggs and toast on the menu, they eat the roaches and bugs outside the coffee shop, and that is why they don't end up on the menu.... (that and the fact that no one is fast enough or smart enough to catch the brazen fowl.)
Now if we can just figure out the riddle of why Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.....

Love it! I kind of miss Guam some days. I don't know that I would eat at Shirley's again though. Miss you!
Katherine, you are witty!!! There is a book just waiting to be written in you, many for that matter.
